📍 Important Note for Self-Drive Travelers

The road from Nairobi to Masai Mara (approximately 5-6 hours) requires a 4×4 vehicle, especially during rainy seasons (April-May, November). We strongly recommend hiring a suitable safari vehicle if you’re not experienced with African bush driving.

Our Parking Facilities

We maintain a level, gravel-based parking zone located just inside our main gate, approximately 100 meters from guest tents. The area is cleared and maintained to accommodate standard 4×4 safari vehicles.

Our parking area falls within the camp’s secured perimeter with:

• Night-time security patrols
• Motion-sensor lighting
• 24-hour security personnel at main gate
• Optional vehicle covers available on request

⚡ Basic Vehicle Services

We can assist with:

• Tire pressure checks and inflation
• Basic jump-start assistance (if battery fails)
• Connection to local mechanic if needed
• Water for radiators (available upon request)

Parking Guidelines & Policies

📝 Registration Requirement

All vehicles must be registered at reception upon arrival. We’ll record your vehicle details, license plate, and contact information for security purposes.

🚫 No In/Out After Dark

For safety reasons, vehicle movement within camp is prohibited between 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Wildlife frequently passes through the area at night, and headlights disturb both animals and other guests.

🐘 Wildlife Considerations

We occasionally have elephants, buffalo, or other wildlife near camp. Never approach parked vehicles if animals are nearby. Our staff will advise you when it’s safe to access your vehicle.

For Guests Without 4×4 Vehicles

If you’re arriving in a standard 2WD vehicle or require transportation:

Many guests prefer to:

• Park at their Nairobi hotel (often free for guests)
• Use long-term parking at Wilson Airport ($10-15/day)
• Take our private transfer service from Nairobi

✈️ Fly-In Option

The easiest alternative: Fly from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the Mara (45 minutes) and take our complimentary airstrip transfer. Avoids the long, rough drive entirely.

Fill up in Narok—last reliable fuel station. Bring at least 5L of drinking water per person.

Park Entry Fees Prepared

Have cash (USD or KSH) ready for Masai Mara National Reserve entry at Sekenani Gate.

Yes, we offer complimentary parking for the duration of your stay. This is a service for our guests, not a revenue source.

Can I leave my vehicle parked while I go on a fly-in safari extension?

Yes, for up to 7 days with prior arrangement. For longer periods, we recommend parking at Wilson Airport for better security.

Do you have electric vehicle charging?

Not currently. The nearest EV charging stations are in Nairobi. We recommend traditional fuel vehicles for safari travel.

What if I need mechanical help while at camp?

We have contacts with local mechanics in Talek town (30 minutes away). Basic repairs can often be arranged, but complex issues may require towing to Nairobi.

Can I sleep in my vehicle or rooftop tent?

No, for security and insurance reasons, all guests must stay in booked accommodation. Our camping area is for daytime parking only.
